Save the Bees

This composition was the final piece for my Design Aesthetics class. After several studies where we practiced using graphic elements to divide space, we were charged with creating a final piece that uses space in reference to the Fibonacci sequence as seen and described below, and that had a mix of text and graphic elements.

Fun Fact: Honeybee conservation is a topic that I am passionate about, and I can always be seen with some bee related item.

Brand: Gaiser Bee Company: Urban Farm

Objective: To educate on the honeybee crisis and to inform citizens on how to handle bee swarms.

Strategy:

Brand Character: simple, wholesome, educational, environmentalist

Point of difference: They sell bees and bee related products but also remove swarms and hold educational classes for beginning beekeepers.

Overall message: the importance of bee conservation

Delivery method: infographic that could be posted online or in print around the city

Design Considerations: I wanted the prime prospect to realize the impact honeybees have on humans and the environment. To do this, I created a layout that displayed various content, but all inside a hive like environment that I showed through the color palette and the use of hexagonal “honeycombs”. Knowing that this was educational awareness that the viewer might get bored with quickly, I created graphics to engage the user and tie in the central point of information.
